On the Tools menu click on Backup/Configuration. Here you have the option to turn backing up on and what destinations you want the data backed up to (for example, to the D drive to then burn your data file to a CD).

I can find no documentation for FTP backups on SILQ. I also suspect issues with FTP config parameters limiting username.

I am supporting a client with latest SILQ Barrister and cannot get any successful FTP backup established.

Issues:

1. username field appears too short. Username input I need to use is long as includes the domain name (eg backup@mydomain.com.au). Last few characters do not display..I assume these are dropped.

2. even when I use a short FTP user name, backup fails..whether I put a folder name in or not (the folder does exist on the server and the folder name is normally not required by default as the server auto-routes to any host subfolder, based on the username).

It appears that SILQ's ftp transaction includes an attempt to change folders even when this is not necessary.

For testing, I can set you up with a couple of FTP accounts if you wish to verify the issue. (Using CPANEL on a hosting account).

Off-site and "worry-free" backups are very important for my client ...currently only relying on send to email account. FTP would be quicker and easier though.

Can you please confirm the subversion number (help/About - 4 digit number in brackets)
From version 6046 this supports 100 characters in the username field.
However the best thing is probably for you to contact our support desk on 1300 556689 and we will be able to have a look at it for you.

Thanks, over the weekend during more testing it updated to 6046 and indeed..FTP works fine now Smile

New issue TEMPLATES:
Templates are now backed up EVERY TIME, regardless whether the Template backup option is crossed or not.

I have toggled it ticked, saved, backed up, closed SILQ, reopened SILQ to ensure settings are saved but nothing I do will stop templates being included in the backup.

Ticked or unticked..it always backs up templates which is mostly unnecessary as these rarely change.

BSOD's now be gone Smile
6046 appears now totally stable under Windows 7 (32bit) too. I had massive dramas with BSOD's (STOP x8e, win32k.sys)..SILQ crashing Win7 (BSOD) within 30secs-1 minute of opening and not even moving a mouse or opening menus. Half suspected video drivers and snyaptics touchpad drivers but since put them back and all is fine.

Now just the Templates backup stuck issue.

Templates issue self-resolved.

Don't know why..had done numerous reboots plus restarts of SILQ and a couple of days later I go and check and..all fine..Same version.
